What it is and who it's for

A dental implant is a small post, usually titanium, placed in the jawbone where a tooth is missing. Once it has healed into the bone, it holds a crown, bridge or denture. Implants can suit adults who have lost one or more teeth and have healthy gums. If the bone is thin, or you smoke or have diabetes, it may take extra planning, and we'll tell you if another option would suit you more.

How it works

  1. Talk to us

Call or WhatsApp, and tell us which teeth are missing and what's on your mind.

  2. Check-up and scans

We examine your teeth and gums, and take digital X-rays or a 3D scan to see the bone.

  3. What treatment involves

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic. It then heals in the bone for some months, and the crown is fitted at the end.

  4. Your options and timeline

We explain what suits your case, how many visits to expect and how long healing may take.

  5. A clear written plan and quote before treatment starts

You see each stage and its cost in writing, and you can take your time to decide.

What affects the cost

  • How many implants you need
  • The implant system used
  • The type of crown, bridge or denture on top
  • Whether you need bone grafting first
  • Any treatment needed beforehand, such as an extraction or gum care

You get a clear written quote after your consultation.

Common questions

Does getting an implant hurt?

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, so you should feel pressure rather than sharp pain. Some soreness and swelling is common for a few days, and it usually settles with the medicines prescribed. Everyone heals differently, so please tell us if anything worries you.

How much do dental implants cost?

It depends on how many implants you need, the implant system, the crown and whether you need bone grafting. After the consultation, you get a clear written quote, so you know the cost before treatment starts.

How long does it take?

Usually about 3–6 months from placing the implant to fitting the final crown, because the bone needs time to heal around it. It can take longer if you need an extraction or bone graft first. Most of that time is healing, so you won't need to visit often.

Is it safe? How do you keep things sterile?

Implants are a well-established treatment, but like any surgery they carry some risks, such as infection. We go through your health history and scans first, and explain the risks that apply to you. Instruments go through central sterilisation between patients.
